Californian Poppy Seeds - XL Jelly Beans
Average Packet Content 150 seeds
Fully double blooms in a vibrant colour range glisten above a mass of feathery blue-green foliage. These dainty hardy annuals are tougher than they appear and positively thrive on poor, dry soils. The papery flowers attract bees and hoverflies, and make excellent, if short-lived, cut flowers. California poppies are easy to grow in beds and borders, or let them self-seed throughout gravel gardens to form natural drifts. Flowers July-August. Height 20-30cm (8-12"); spread 20-30cm (8-12").
Choose a sunny position. Sow direct into finely raked, moist, warm soil where the plants are to flower at a depth of 6mm covering the seed lightly with soil. Germination 10-14 days. Thin seedlings in stages until they are 25-30cm apart. Alternatively, for early flowering sow seed during August/September for flowers earlier.
