Weeds can be the bane of a gardener’s life. It can be a continuous battle especially if you are unlucky enough to have established invasive varieties in your garden. Weeds can complete with plants and lawns for nutrients, light and water.
There are various ways to deal with weeds....
Weedkillers – these work to kill the weed with chemicals. Some kill the leaves, others are absorbed through the leaves into the root which stops the weed coming back again.
Manually – removing the weeds by hand or with tools.
Burning – scorching the leaves of the weed to halt its growth.
Suppression – stopping weeds growing in the first place. This can be done using weed membrane (under gravel or bark) or using bark as a mulch around your plants. Please see our Garden Bark section for more details.
